Draw the track and feed the storm in a hurricane simulator spanning five real ocean basins. Manage meteorology, intensify storms, and decide where—and whether—they make landfall.

Overview

Draw the track. Feed the beast. Watch the coast brace for impact.

LANDFALL is a hurricane simulation that puts you in control of a storm's track, intensification, and choices about landfall. It models real meteorological drivers and challenges players who want more than a simple icon on a map.

Key features

  • Real meteorology: sea surface temperature, wind shear, Saharan dust, and moisture affect storm behavior.
  • Five real ocean basins to play in, with basin-specific conditions.
  • Over 600 real coastal cities with population and economic weight used in scoring.
  • Nine storm actions: absorb heat, suppress shear, ride the jet stream, contract the eyewall, redraw the track mid-flight, and more. Actions cost energy earned by intensifying and hitting cities.
  • Five difficulty tiers based on ENSO-like states (from Super La Niña to Super El Niño) that change the underlying atmospheric conditions.
  • Concurrent storms: spawn and manage multiple storms in a season; Fujiwhara interactions can occur.
  • 240+ meteorological briefings and scripted events that can help or hinder mid-storm.
  • Historic scenarios: replay and redraw real storms, including the approach of Haiyan to Tacloban.
  • Campaign and Free Play: a structured campaign with escalating difficulty or Free Play for season-high-score chasing (up to five storms at once).
  • Scoring that rewards skill: track accuracy, storm surge, category, and city value affect scores, plus achievements, leaderboards, and career stats.

Notes from the developer

Built solo by Feich13 Studios (Alexander Anton Feichter). The developer states a focus on scientific inspiration and attempts to model relevant meteorology accurately.

Device note

Optimized for wide-aspect screens. On very square tablets the map may run smaller with bars top and bottom; this is listed as a known limitation, not a bug.
