A top-down racing game where the whole world gets the same track and one attempt a day. New track every midnight. Free in your browser, no signup.

Overview

One Lap a Day is a free top-down racing game that runs in your browser. Every midnight a new track is generated from the date — the same one for everyone in the world — and you get one attempt. No retries, no practice run first.

How it works

  • One global track a day, generated at midnight. Everyone races the same one.
  • A single attempt. Whatever happens, happens.
  • You race against the ghosts of everyone who already ran today, plus the house cats, plus a dog that chases you and will ram you if you're slow.
  • Your lap is verified on the server, which re-simulates your inputs and compares. Times on the board are real.
  • No download, no signup. Works on phones.

Modes & progression

  • The league. You're placed in a league of 20. Seven rounds, one per day — the top five go up, the bottom five go down.
  • Seven lives. You start each season with seven. Falling off the world costs one; clean rounds earn them back.
  • Cats. Unlock drivers by pulling off specific things on track, from clean laps to genuinely absurd feats.
  • The comic. Each daily race opens a page of Tostada's story.
  • A share card at the end of every run, carrying your ghost — so a friend can race against you, not just your time.
  • Archive. Past tracks stay playable. Today's and yesterday's are free for everyone; older days are part of Premium, a one-off 4.99 €. Archive runs don't score in the league.

Worlds

Six fixed circuits you can practise as much as you like — two open from the start, the rest unlocked by finishing the previous one:

  • The country circuit — grass, grandstand and kerbs. The classic.
  • The breakfast table — a circuit the size of a table. Mind the spilled milk, and the edge.
  • The Moon — low gravity, jumps fly twice as far.
  • Mercury — stop moving and your car melts.
  • Mars — dust storms shove you around, and the planet runs out.
  • Venus — a figure eight. The track crosses over itself: once a lap you go over your own road on a flyover, and once you go under it.

Controls

Arrow keys to steer, SPACE for the handbrake — hold it through a corner to drift and charge your turbo. On a phone, touch the side you want to turn towards, then touch the other one too without letting go. The throttle is automatic.
