Overview

Idle Donkeys is a free-to-play blockchain idle game on Solana. Build and level up 14 businesses, hire managers to automate production, earn three currencies (Hay, Crystals, and on-chain DKV tokens), and prestige to gain permanent upgrades.

Core loop

• Buy and level businesses (start with the Hay Farm) to earn Hay and unlock the next business.
• Hire donkey managers to automate farms; managers skim a percentage of profits unless you use a DKV NFT Manager.
• Unlock Business 14 to earn real DKV tokens and use the in-game exchange to send DKV to a Phantom wallet (requires at least one DKV NFT Manager).
• Prestige after unlocking Business 12 to sell your empire for Crystals and one permanent upgrade axis, then restart with 200 Hay.
• Managed businesses continue to run offline; collect accumulated earnings when you return.

Currencies & economy

• Hay: earned from Businesses 1–12; used for buying and upgrading farms and managers.
• Crystals: premium currency earned from the Crystal Mine (Business 13), daily activities, achievements, and prestiges; used for permanent boosts, shop upgrades, insurance, and instant repairs.
• DKV Tokens: on-chain token matched to the real DKV on Solana; earned through Business 14 and withdrawable to Phantom via the in-game exchange once a DKV NFT Manager is assigned.

Managers & NFTs

• Regular managers skim 20–60% depending on tier (Tier 1 = 60% skim, Tier 5 = 20% skim).
• DKV NFT Managers skim 0%, add trait bonuses (speed, production, cost reduction), and unlock DKV earnings.
• Trait Store upgrades applied to DKV NFTs are written permanently to Metaplex metadata on Solana, making those NFTs carry the improved stats on-chain.
• Ultra-rare 1-of-1 DKV NFTs can provide up to +60% speed, +60% production, and −60% cost on managed farms.

Chaos events & insurance

• After your first prestige, random per-farm chaos events and occasional global disasters can reduce production or speed.
• You can repair events with Hay (slows the timer) or Crystals (instant clear).
• Insurance tiers (unlocked after first prestige) reduce event chance per farm; Elite tier gives total immunity for that farm.

Additional systems & features

• Achievements (40) with rewards including Hay, Crystals and DKV; special milestones pay DKV.
• Global leaderboards with multiple sort modes (All-Time Hay, Resets, Level, DKV Cashed Out, Achievements, Highest Business Level).
• Daily login rewards with a 7-day streak reward of 50 Crystals.
• DKV earning cap mechanics: base hourly cap and daily cap growth from assigned NFT managers and prestige resets (details available in-game).
• Full stats panel tracking all-time earnings, skim losses, DKV cashed out, disasters survived, and more.
